The closure of Oxford-On-Rideau Public School has been postponed. The school, set to shut its doors this year, will remain open until June 2021. The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) sent out a letter notifying parents on Wednesday.
The letter states ‘…while there is sufficient space available for the students attending Oxford-On-Rideau at South Branch Elementary School, the pending construction project at North Grenville District High School would benefit by having fewer portables on-site at South Branch and NGDHS from a project planning and cost perspective.’
The closure date has been moved to coincide with the completion of the addition at NGDHS, slated for September 2021.
The decision to close the school was made on March 23, 2017, following the Pupil Accommodation Review process.
