Big Sky Ranch struggling to heat barns

A local animal shelter is asking for help from the public. Big Sky Ranch is short on funds to heat its barns this winter. The shelter currently has 117 animals, ranging from dogs and cats to horses and sheep.

Founder Andy Parent says heating the barns is essential. He says the smaller animals need to be kept warm in the colder months. Parent says animals like goats have shorter hair and will freeze to death.

Big Sky Ranch is a no-kill shelter. It’s been in operation for 16 years and helped over 3,100 animals.

Parent says January is the hardest month of the year. He says there are less visitors, but bills continue to roll in.
