Maynard Public School’s Student Council raised over $500 in support of the Refugees for Brockville program. The money was used to buy backpacks and school supplies for four new refugees.
Teachers Shanda Foxton and Jennifer Wilson spearheaded the campaign to align with students’ learning in the classroom. Grades five and six students have been studying the novel Refugee by Alan Gratz.
Students ran several fundraising events, including a bake sale that brought in $450. The donation was picked up on Friday.
