The Provincial Government wants to keep money in your pocket when it comes to fishing.
Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry John Yakabuski says they’ve decided to freeze the cost of fishing licenses for Ontario residents and cancel the $2 service fee to get more people to enjoy the sport.
He says these changes will increase tourism in areas where fishing is vital to the economy.
Yakabuski says that they have added two free fishing days in 2019, which are on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekend.
He also adds that they’ve recently announced there would be no fishing fees for any currently serving or retired members of the military.
He says the sport is declining in popularity and making these changes will help people enjoy the outdoors and also see fishing as a family activity. To read the press releases click here and here.
