Spirit of Giving Campaign Raises Thousands but Still Short

This year’s Spirit of Giving Campaign has raised $6,000 so far.

The campaign began early November. Kinsmen Club of Prescott Treasurer Art Hitsman says while the canned good collection is complete, they are still accepting money donations for the campaign. Hitsman says they are about $1,500 short. The money helps buy perishable food like turkey, margarine and carrots.

Hitsman explains 300 people registered this year to receive a basket. He says this is a decrease from previous years. The baskets were distributed on Saturday. Hitsman says they do have a fund to help cover the costs but if they continually lose money in future years, they won’t be able to continue.

Hitsman thanks everyone who has helped this year including family, friends and local businesses.

Anyone who would like to donate money can still mail a cheque to PO box 1150 Prescott ON K0E 1T0, or any Kinsmen member takes donations.
