Prescott to offer tax breaks for developers of contaminated “brownfields”

After the discovery of contamination last year, two key waterfront developments were put on hold in Prescott. They are now back on the radar, with town council moving ahead with plans.

Last week council directed municipal staff to proceed with plans to create a tax incentive program for developers who build on former industrial land.

The brownfields community improvement plan could also make other local sites appealing to investors as it offers tax breaks in exchange for cleaning up contaminated soil.
