A local author is launching her book “The Money Tree” on Saturday.
Joan Rupert-Barkley says it’s a picture book for children eight and under. She says she has always wanted to publish this type of book and it’s about entrepreneurship.
“It’s about Barkley the bear and he wants everything. He wants his mother to buy him everything and she says to him: do you think money grows on trees? So Barkley bear goes out and finds his own money tree.”
This is Rupert-Barkley’s first book published but she has written various articles through the years.
The book costs $4 but at the launch it will cost $3. The launch is from 10 to two in the afternoon, in the community room at O’Reilly’s Your Independent Grocer. The book’s illustrator Edie Batstone will also be at the launch.
