Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer stops by local bakery

The riding welcomed its third federal party leader. Andrew Scheer, leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, stopped by Grahame’s Bakery in Kemptville this morning.

Scheer chatted with bakery owner Rick Grahame about how federal tax increases have impacted his business. A local farmer, Yann Bossel, stopped by to talk with Scheer about how taxation and broken promises have impacted him.

The visit lasted about 30 minutes. Scheer is in town to support Michael Barrett’s bid for the MP seat in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. The federal by-election wraps up Monday night.

The other candidates are Michelle Taylor (NDP), Lorraine Rekmans (Green) and Mary Jean McFall (Liberal).

Scheer headed to Brockville after leaving Kemptville. He is set to make an appearance at Barrett’s campaign office at 2:30pm.
