Volunteers Needed at Christmas Bazaar in Maitland

The fifth annual Christmas Bazaar for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is looking for volunteers.

The bazaar raises research money for MS and will be happening at the Maitland Education and Recreation Centre (M.E.R.C Hall) this Sunday. Vendors will be selling items from 10 to three that day.

There will also be a silent auction and Santa will be at the event. The hall is at 120 East MacLean Boulevard. The cost to get in is a donation of non-perishable food for the Brockville and area food bank.

Kory Crowder is the Media Relations and Fundraising Lead Coordinator for the Leeds Grenville Chapter of the MS Society and says volunteers will be needed from eight in the morning to four that evening.

“Volunteers will be doing numerous things: helping out our vendors, helping to serve, we’re going to have a popcorn machine there (to sell) popcorn. They’re going to help vendors bring in their items, set up tables and all kinds of stuff like that.”

Crowder says his Facebook page, Auctions for MS, has weekly auctions to raise money as well. He adds he does it because his wife has MS. Altogether they have raised over $35,000 for MS since 2013.

To volunteer at the bazaar, people can contact Crowder at [email protected] or by calling 613-802-9593.
