Man steals two vehicles, kidnaps local and robs Spencerville gas station

The OPP arrested a man who went on a crime spree in the area. The 32-year-old man, who has no fixed address, stole a van in Ottawa on Friday. He crashed the stolen vehicle on County Road 15 in Wolford Township around 12:00 noon.

Before officers arrived on scene, a citizen stopped to help the driver involved in the collision. The man threatened the citizen with an edged weapon and demanded a ride in his truck. The citizen drove the man to Kemptville. The suspect released the uninjured citizen on the side of the road and drove away in his truck.

OPP officers tried to stop the vehicle but had to end the chase when the suspect displayed dangerous driving.

Around 12:50pm, the suspect robbed a gas station in Spencerville. He threatened staff with the edged weapon and stole alcohol and cigarettes.
