Mary Jean McFall focuses on economic development, investing in local business

Liberal candidate Mary Jean McFall is running for MP in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. The seat has been vacant since the death of Gord Brown in May. The federal by-election is set for December 3.

McFall says the biggest issues facing residents are jobs and economic development. She says people are concerned about long-term, sustainable, good paying jobs.

McFall says the riding can’t rely on multinational companies coming from the United States and elsewhere for job creation. She says it’s important to support local business and invest in employers who have a stake in the community.

McFall says infrastructure is another major issue throughout the riding. She says projects like the expansion of County Road 43 need funding to get off the ground.

McFall says the closure of the Procter & Gamble plant in Brockville will impact hundreds of people and giving them the resources to become the entrepreneurs of tomorrow will make a difference.

She says the riding will benefit from her leadership, with a majority Liberal government to back her initiatives in the House of Commons.

The My Prescott Now newsroom interviewed all four federal candidates this week. The other candidates are Lorraine Rekmans (Green), Michael Barrett (Conservative) and Michelle Taylor (NDP).
