Locked-out Goodwill employees get a helping hand

A Toronto-area food rescue organization showed up in Brockville yesterday morning to provide handouts to laid-off Goodwill workers. The baskets of fresh food were a welcome sight to 18 employees of the local thrift shop, who were suddenly locked out of work January 17th.

The Second Harvest foodbank normally serves the Greater Toronto Area but expanded services this week to reach all laid-off Goodwill employees in Eastern Ontario. The workers said they were grateful for the assistance while temporarily stuck without any source of income.
