Leanne Burton is running for Council in Prescott. She says she likes to strategize for the future by focusing on vital projects for the town’s ongoing development.
Burton says the water tower, roads and sewers need to be priorities because they are vital items in the town that need to be looked after. She explains looking after the aging infrastructure is one of the key developments of the town. Burton adds we need to look at the bigger picture for Prescott by implementing policies that will continue to enhance the community and also strengthen the partnership with neighbouring municipalities. Burton says she believes Prescott has some challenges ahead with the rink closing, adding it’s been a staple in the community for decades.
She explains with one term already under her belt, she’s gained experience and knowledge and is just getting started and wants to accomplish more. She says she’s also owned and operated a successful business in town. Burton adds she moved to Prescott 25 years ago with her husband and raised her family, worked and volunteered here.
“I have achieved a great deal in the last four years. I believe with good governance, thoughtful management of our finances and teamwork, we can make Prescott the best it will be.”
Burton notes she has been involved in many things in town, including: the Prescott Fire Department, the Prescott Youth Centre, BIA, Business Showcase and Expo, getting a community working group together to raise funds for a splash pad and has been a long time member of the Prescott Soccer Association.
The My Prescott Now newsroom will have all Councillor candidate interviews posted by the end of next week. The 2018 Municipal Election is set for October 22.
