Councillor Candidate Teresa Jansman Focuses On Long Term Planning For Asset Management

Teresa Jansman is running for Council in Prescott. She says her number one priority would be to ensure when capital project decisions are being made, it is done with a full understanding of what the long term financial consequences are.

Jansman explains that the ministry now mandates that municipalities have an asset management plan that have a five, 10 and 15 year outlook. She says that will help avoid what Prescott has recently experienced with infrastructure problems.

She says replacing the water tower has to be Prescott’s number one priority because it’s a core service to the town. Other priorities include the Leo Boivin Community Centre and a regional focus has to be addressed for things that aren’t core services. For the parks and recreation in town, she says the focus has to be on Prescott as a whole and the surrounding area.

“I think when attracting industry, when utilizing recreation, a regional focus has to come into play.”

Jansman says she’s running again because she believes even more than she did four years ago when she was elected that Prescott has tremendous potential. She adds a lot has been done for the town but there’s still a lot more to do. Jansman is confident that she is qualified with the experience the first term as Councillor has given her. She works full time in the financial public sector and says that is helpful to know what affects municipalities and how to be and remain accountable to the taxpayer.

The My Prescott Now newsroom will be interviewing Councillor candidates for Prescott over the next week. The 2018 Municipal Election is set for October 22.
