Councillor Candidate Fraser Laschinger Focuses On Strategic Plan

Fraser Laschinger is running for council in Prescott. This is his second term running for Council.

He says he wants to continue working on the strategic plan Prescott has made. Laschinger says Prescott needs to look at aging infrastructure which needs replacement. One of the main priorities he has is working to find the necessary funds to construct a new ice pad in town.

He says with the challenges Prescott faces with infrastructure, the town is going to need a new strategy and people, like himself, are able to analyze these situations and make good choices with the various options council will have. Laschinger also says council should provide leadership which is what he says he’s been able to do on the heritage and tourism front.

Laschinger points out that repairs will have to be made at Walker House, the tennis club, there will need to be some improvements to the boat ramp and to Centennial Park which includes a splash pad. He says there’s a lot more to council then just infrastructure saying there’s economic development. Another priority for the town is the downtown core with a lot of empty storefronts.

“The town council has the responsibility to make sure that the overall environment is conducive to developing economically and that goes for other industrial issues as well.”

Laschinger says he’s decided to run again because he’s enjoyed his first four years, would like to see another four years to give guidance and be personally involved in some of the big decisions that are going to be required.

The My Prescott Now newsroom will be interviewing councillor candidates for Prescott over the next week. The 2018 Municipal Election is set for October 22.
