There will be an art exhibit in Prescott that will feature art created by Alzheimer Society clients.
The “In My Mind’s Eye” exhibit will have its grand opening on Tuesday night from five to seven. The art exhibit is free to attend and will run for the entire month of October at the Public Library in Prescott. Mary Campbell is the Education and Support Coordinator for Alzheimer Society Lanark Leeds Grenville and says the artwork will be done by clients, their friends and family.
“Upon speaking with our clients at the Alzheimer society it began really evident that a lot of them have many talents that we didn’t know about. So, we’ve decided to put on an art exhibit to showcase their talents.”
She adds just because someone has Alzheimer’s, it does not mean they’ve lost emotion or an ability to create art.
“We’re hoping that this exhibit gets people talking, get into conversation about Alzheimer’s and there are no limitations of what you can do.”
Campbell says on the opening night there will be refreshments, music from acoustic guitarist Nathan Hardy and dignitaries. The library is located at 360 Dibble Street West.
