South Grenville students hold protest against sex-ed curriculum

Students at South Grenville District High School participated in a walk out today.

Around 100 schools were anticipated to walk out of classes this afternoon. It was to protest Premier Doug Ford ending the 2015 sexual-education curriculum and going back to one from the 1990’s.

The event was led by Kayla Innes and Makenna Carmichael, who are students at the school. Innes explains that she believes things like consent, LGBTQ and gender identity are important to have in the curriculum. Carmichael said this was important to show the community how the students feel.

“The majority of us aren’t voting age, so we can’t really vote against it. So, as students I really think it’s important to spread the awareness and joining the schools in the province to stand up and walk out.”
