Local Veterinarian One of Six Canadians To Receive Award

Doctor Henry Ceelen has been chosen as the 2018 Bovine Practitioner of the Year.

The award was presented at the annual American Association of Bovine Practitioners conference in Phoenix, Arizona. A committee chooses the winner based on letters from colleagues and clients that explain why someone should be chosen. The award has been given out annually since 1978 and only five other Canadians have won.

In 1981, Ceelen joined Doctor John Henry’s mixed animal practice in Kemptville. In 2009, he combined the large animal portion of the practice with Prescott Animal Hospital to form Rideau-St. Lawrence Veterinary Services.

Currently, he is Secretary-Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Bovine Veterinarians, Director with the Ontario Association of Bovine Practitioners, the incoming Chair of the National Issues Committee of the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and still works with the Rideau-St. Lawrence Veterinary Services.
