Nominations Being Accepted For Ben TeKamp Award

Local entrepreneurs can now apply for the Ben TeKamp Memorial Award.

This will be the fourth year the award is given out through the Employment and Education Centre in Brockville. The award is named after Ben Tekamp who was a Mayor in Brockville for three terms. Sue Watts is the Executive Director of the centre and says the award is in honour of Ben’s characteristics, integrity, his hard work and his love for small business.

“This award was created to recognize outstanding businesses that are new or have reinvented themselves to meet the changing needs of Leeds and Grenville.”

The award is given to three businesses that are within the Leeds and Grenville area. The winners of the award will receive one hour of free business counselling and a bursary. On the centre’s website there is an application form anyone can fill out to nominate themselves or another business. Watts says preference will be given to new businesses that have displayed strong creativity and innovation.
