United Counties looking at cut in tax rate with 2016 budget

For the second year in a row, the United Counties of Leeds Grenville is looking at a tax rate cut instead of a hike. On Wednesday, budget deliberations came to a halt when Rideau Lakes Mayor Ron Holman suggested a quarter million in reserves be applied to the revenue stream instead.

According to the Recorder, Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Mayor Pat Sayeau seconded the motion whole-heartedly. Sayeau stated the Counties are expected to hold $23 million dollars in reserves at the end of 2016 so a draw on those reserves is not a big takedown.
