Prescott to participate in Tiered Response Program for medical emergencies

Prescott council has resolved to join the Tiered Response Program in partnership with the Leeds Grenville Emergency Services division. As Acting CAO Rob Wittkie explains, this By-Law will provide the Ambulance Service with a clear understanding of the type of Medical Response that will be provided by the Prescott Fire Department.

The Town of Prescott has never had an agreement with the Counties Emergency Services like many other fire departments currently have in place. The Fire Department has been called several times over the years to assist in medical emergencies. In most cases, EMS has been on scene and did not require fire services’ assistance upon arrival.

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care have new protocols in place for the purpose of tiered response to medical emergencies. This protocol provides the Paramedic Services an outline of who responds with them to medical calls for service, and under what circumstances.
