Coffee Break In Prescott To Support Alzheimer Society

Prescott will be hosting a coffee break to support the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville.

The Alzeimer Society’s National Coffee Break will begin on September 20th. Bobbi-Jo White is the Fund Development and Marketing Coordinator for the society in Lanark Leeds Grenville. She says Prescott will be raising a flag at Town Hall on that day.

“So, they’re going to raise our flag to kick off our coffee break and then they’re also going to leave it up because the next day is World Alzheimer’s Day.”

This will be the first year Prescott is holding a coffee break to support this organization. The main event will be on September 25th from 10 in the morning to noon. It will be happening at the Walker House Recreation Centre on 623 King Street West. People are welcome to enjoy coffee, treats and make a donation.

White says they are hoping to raise around $15 thousand this year. She notes all the money raised stays in the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville community.

“We do donate to research, but all the money that we raise at these types of events stay here to support the programs and services. It’s also a good awareness campaign that ties in because that allows people to know yes, we are here.”

White also says they are always looking for coffee break hosts. Contact 1-866-576-8556 for more information.

Mayor Brett Todd proclaimed September as Alzheimer Society Lanark Leeds Grenville Coffee Break month.
