Young boy missing after boat capsizes in St. Lawrence near Rockport
Leeds County OPP continues to search for a missing boy in the St. Lawrence River west of Rockport.
The OPP says that around 4:00pm Saturday, five people were thrown into the water when a boat they were in capsized. Four of those people were rescued, but an 11-year-old boy failed to resurface and could not be found. Police say the boy was from Ottawa and had been vacationing with his family.
The OPP says officials from the Rescue Coordination Centre at CFB Trenton, the Canadian Coast Guard, the Leeds and Thousand Islands Fire Department, and members of the RCMP were all called to the incident yesterday.
Officers were resumed the search this morning with the help from the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
