Jasmine’s Cheerleaders Event Tomorrow And Wednesday

The public is invited to South Grenville District High School tomorrow and Wednesday to support Jasmine Saunders.

Jasmine’s Cheerleaders is an event created for anyone to send messages to the 17 year-old, who’s currently in hospital.  Jasmine was involved in an ATV crash last Friday. There will be a table set up inside the main entrance with bristol boards for people to write inspirational words on. It was created by Christine Tremblay-Sloan who was one of Saunders’ teachers at the high school. She says this event is important to show how much the community rallies together.

“I figured we can’t be in Ottawa, with the family and with Jasmine, so we want to write messages for her and bring it to her, so when she does wake up she can see how much everybody loves her.”

The messages will be taken to the hospital later this week. A container will be out for donations as well. Tremblay-Sloan says the money will go towards what the family needs now and later.

“If people would like to donate to help the family with gas and hotels, or anything in the future for Jasmine herself. We’ll be opening a bank account in her name as well.”

Tremblay-Sloan adds this event is to help students and the public be together and give words of encouragement to keep fighting.

This event will be running from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Tuesday and Wednesday. For more details about this event or to arrange donations, contact Tremblay-Sloan at 613-349-5322 or email [email protected].

Brooklyn Saunders is Jasmine’s sister and says she is currently in stable condition, though not doing much better. Saunders says Jasmine had a three-hour surgery last night, to take the front half of her skull out to allow her brain to swell without causing more damage. Saunders adds the surgery went well and they still have her in a very deep coma and have also paralyzed her to allow her brain to heal.
