Spencerville Fair Set For September Sixth To Ninth

The Spencerville Fair is back for it’s 163rd year.

New this year is extra, free, midway tickets with the purchase of fair passes or entertainment passes along with midway tickets before the fair, online.

Tammy Ferguson oversees Marketing and Promotion for the Spencerville Fair and says they are just trying to give a little bit back.

The Spencerville Fair Facebook page will have a list of what rides will be coming this year.

There will be numerous family shows happening around the fairgrounds throughout the weekend including Mystic Drumz, Saunders Country Critters Zoo & Sanctuary, a climbing wall and Upper Canada Axe Throwing.

On Saturday, The parade will be happening at 10:30 a-m and the theme this year is “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.”

The demolition derby will be at one p-m on Sunday in front of the grandstand.

Ferguson adds the main attraction is a Wild West show which will be happening from Friday to Sunday.

The Spencerville Fair Royalty Show is looking for contestants. The show will feature an Ambassador competition for people between the ages of 18 and 26, the Junior Ambassador competition for youths between the ages of 11 and 16 and the Little Sir and Little Miss competition for children between the ages of six and nine years old. Competitors in each group must be within the age range by September seventh. Anyone interested in registering for the competitions and is from the Leeds, Grenville, Stormont or Dundas counties can visit the Spencerville Fair Royalty page at spencervillefair.ca or email [email protected].

Ferguson says the Royalty Show is celebrating 40 years this year and the dedication of the volunteers has helped make it last so long.

Fair admission on Thursday, September sixth is a ‘free will’ monetary donation to the Food For All Food Bank. On Friday, adults are 10 dollars and children 12 and under are free to get in. Saturday, adults are 10 dollars as well, children six to 12 are five dollars and children five and under are free. On Sunday, September ninth, adults are 15 dollars, children between the ages of six and 12 are five dollars and children five and under are free. A weekend fair pass is 30 dollars.

The midway rides cost a toonie on Thursday night from five to 11 p-m. Friday’s “Ride All Day” bracelets are 30 dollars to ride from 11 a-m to 11 p-m.

Advance tickets are available until four p-m on September fifth at Scotiabank in Kemptville, Your Family Dollar Store in Prescott, Irving H. Miller in Cardinal, Joe Computer, Home Hardware, the Fair Office in Spencerville and on the Spencerville Fair’s website.
