Police are warning outdoors enthusiasts that ice over lakes and rivers is nowhere near thick enough to support your weight yet. It will take a number of consistently cold days to thicken the ice, after the unseasonably warm January we have been experiencing.
Snowmobile trails are also not ready for activity yet. In recent days two men went through the ice near Richmond and one man was thrown from his machine when he hit a dirt patch on a trail near Dunrobin. Heading out on the ice or on an ungroomed snowmobile trail is foolish and might endanger your life.
