Merrickville Fair to feature pony show, kids zone

There is lots on the agenda for the 180th Merrickville Fair. The event runs from August 10 to 12. Admission for children 12 and under is free. Unlimited rides costs $10 per day or $25 for the weekend if you buy a bracelet ahead of time. Advance ticket sales are available at Quickie Convenience in Merrickville, Sugar Belle Bake Shoppe and Jerry’s Service Centre in Jasper. Merrickville Agricultural Society President Sheila Cornelisse says there are a few new things this year.

The Canadian Pony Club will be on site Saturday. On Friday night there will be a 4X4 truck pull, followed by a garden tractor pull on Saturday and light and heavy horse pull on Sunday. The inflatable midway includes bouncy castles, slides, a rock wall and mazes. Cornelisse says the Kids Zone is jam packed with fun.

Vanderlaand The Barnyard Zoo, along with The Keepers exoctic animal show, will be on site. Live entertainment will be provided by Bordertowne Boys, Buckledown and Jess & Rye. Volunteers are still needed to run the main gate, kids zone and tea room. If interested, contact Rose Lamingman by emailing [email protected]. For more details about the fair, click here.
