HMCS Moncton Set To Sail Into Prescott Tomorrow Morning

HMCS Moncton will be welcomed into Prescott tomorrow (July 27th) morning. The Maritime Coastal Defense Vessel will be part of the commemoration ceremony to hometown heroes.

The ship will be at docked in Prescott behind 235 Water Street.

Juan Sanchez is the Site Manager at Fort Wellington and says the Fort will fire a canon to welcome the ship at eight and the ship will fire back and pull into the port. At nine they will start giving free ship tours. They will also have an interactive military naval bus at the port that people can walk in, Parks Canada will have tents set up with temporary tattoos and various activities the whole family can enjoy.

At 11, the Fort will have a ceremony at the Cenotaph to commemorate the ending of World War I. There will be a band at the Fort that will be playing World War I and World War II music. Sanchez says that will lead into an exhibit they will be opening focused on local people who have been part of World War I.
