A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the area. Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous storms capable of producing torrential rain.
Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop later this afternoon and evening as warm and humid tropical air mass remains over Eastern Ontario.
The main threat is torrential downpours producing 50 to 100mm of rain in less than two hours, especially in areas that get one or more storms in a row.
People are encouraged to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
