Brick Program at Rotary Pavilion will Continue

Council has endorsed the Brick Program to continue at the Rotary Pavilion in Prescott.

The Rotary Club of Prescott had a program where a brick could be purchased, engraved and placed in the Rotary Pavilion. At last night’s Council meeting, it was a unanimous vote to continue the program.

Matthew Armstrong is the CAO/Treasurer for the Town of Prescott and says a citizen who was involved with the Rotary Club brought this up. The Town will take over the administration portion of this job and Armstrong notes they don’t see this as being an administrative burden in any way, shape or form. One brick costs $75 with $50 covering the cost of engraving.

When someone purchases one, they receive a $25 charitable income tax receipt. If there’s an excess of funds from the sales of the bricks, it will go to a separate fund that will support enhancements made to the Rotary Pavilion, Lighthouse and Clock Tower.

Councillor Leanne Burton says she thinks it’s really important to continue this tradition, as it has been a part of the Prescott community for years.

There are around 1,500 bricks already laid at the Rotary Pavilion and the Town says there is more space to continue the program.
