Local kid heading to Scotland for World Pipe Band Championships

Rowan Meyer is off to Scotland for the world’s most prestigious pipe band competition. The 13-year-old Oxford Mills resident is taking part in the World Pipe Band Championships on August 17 and 18. Meyer says he’s been playing the bagpipes for four years.

Meyer is part of the Glengarry Grade 5 Pipe Band. He is leaving for Scotland on August 12. Meyer says the band has a good chance.

Over 8,000 pipers and drummers from around the world will be taking part. For more information about the World Pipe Band Championships, click here.
