Leeds County OPP Officers continue to investigate a transport fire on Highway 401. The call came in just after 1:00am this morning. A transport truck carrying freezies caught fire west of Brockville, in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township.
The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames causing both east and westbound lanes of the 401 to close. The Ministry of the Environment has been contacted in regards to a diesel spill. There were no injuries reported.
The eastbound lanes of the 401 are still closed to allow for the investigation and vehicle removal. The OPP expect the highway to reopen around 8:00pm tonight. Detours are in place at Long Beach.
