Town Clerk Not Concerned About Shortfall of Candidates

With a little over a week to go until the nomination deadline for the Prescott Municipal Election, four names are currently on the unofficial list of candidates for Councillors.

Prescott elects one mayor and six councillors. The deadline to file nomination papers is July 27th at 2:00pm.

Kimberley Casselman is Director of Administration/Clerk for Prescott and says she’s not worried that Prescott won’t have enough councillor candidates.

Casselman adds if the Town does not have enough candidates by the deadline of July 27th, nomination papers could also be able to be filed on August 1st.

Anyone who would like to file nomination papers will have to go to Town Hall on 360 Dibble Street West. On the first floor, ask for the Clerk or Deputy Clerk who can help walk anyone through the process. The filing fee for mayor is $200 and $100 for councillors.

Town Hall is opened from 8:30am to 4:30pm from Monday to Friday. On Nomination Day, July 27th, the Clerk’s Office will only accept nomination papers from 9:00am to 2:00pm as per the Municipal Elections Act.
