Fire fighters in Augusta Township are excited for the new fire hall.
A construction contract of approximately $3.6 million was approved by Augusta’s Town Council for the new fire hall in Maitland. Rob Bowman is Augusta’s Fire Chief and he says the total project will cost about $4.2 million.
The current fire hall is located at 19 Church Street in Maitland. The new fire hall will be built right behind the current property.
Bowman adds the current station is approximately 70 years old. He adds the process to get to this point has been about two and a half years in the making.
Bowman says even though there are different opinions about the new fire station, he really feels that once it’s built and people see the difference from the current hall, it’ll be a good thing for Augusta.
