Augusta Township and Elizabethtown-Kitley have full fire bans in effect right now. Both fire bans were put in place Tuesday morning.

No open burning of any type is permitted.

Rob Bowman is the Fire Chief for Augusta Township. He says the fine could cost hundreds of dollars.

A total burn ban is still in effect for Leeds and the Thousand Islands because of the on-going dry conditions.

Burn bans will be lifted once more rain falls and the ground has more moisture. Rick Lawson is the Fire Chief for Leeds and the Thousand Islands and says they look for a minimum of two inches of rain before the ban is lifted.
