Champions for Kids Tournament brings in over $55,000

The 11th annual Champions for Kids Foundation Golf Tournament brought in big bucks. The event was held Tuesday and raised over $55,000 for the foundation. Champions for Kids was founded 10 years ago by the Upper Canada District School Board.

The foundation’s focus is to help families pay for their kids to take part in sports, arts and other after school activities. The foundation also covers minor medical expenses, such as eye glasses.

Co-Chair Casey Nelson says they are thankful to the golfers who supported the foundation and the many volunteers who came together to make the tournament a success.

Over 100 golfers took part in the event, which was held at the Mississippi Golf Club near Carleton Place.

The live auction included a signed Eric Karlsson Ottawa Senators’ jersey which sold for $500, autographed hockey sticks and more.

Plans are already underway for next year’s tournament, set for July 3 at the Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club.
