Three names now in running for Conservative Party nomination

Lombardy native Stephanie Mitton is seeking the Conservative Party nomination in the upcoming federal by-election. She announced her candidacy for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes yesterday.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has yet to call an election for the riding. The MP seat has been vacant since the death of Gord Brown last month.

Mitton comes from a local family of small business owners and outdoor enthusiasts. She says she is seeking the nomination because she understands the concerns of local residents.

Mitton says she has talked to many people in the riding who are unhappy with how their tax dollars are being spent.

She is also concerned about the spread of Lyme disease in the region.

President of Wills Transfer Limited Terry Wills says Mitton has always been a good listener and strong advocate for others. Wills is supporting Mitton because he says she is a go-getter who will bring a strong voice to Ottawa for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.

Michael Barrett and Colin Brown are also seeking the Conservative nomination.
