Mayor Todd says some changes are coming to help alleviate 401 traffic issues

Mayor Brett Todd has shared another update regarding traffic issues in the area on Highway 401.

Todd said on Facebook that the updates come from the Ministry of Transportation through the OPP.

Some of those changes will help alleviate some of the traffic issues during peak times which has caused congestion through downtown Prescott and on Highway 2, according to Todd.

Until Labour Day, contractor lane closures are being restricted to night hours. Lane closures will be permitted from 7:00pm to 1:00am Monday to Friday. On Sundays, those lane closures will begin after 10:00pm.

Todd says they also said that there will be a minimum of 2km being maintained between lane closures and there will be signage to show the distance to lane closures and what lane is closed. Todd also said electronic signage has now been posted on the eastbound lane.

Earlier last week Todd shared that due to construction and traffic flow through the area, Prescott would see increased traffic through the summer, but that they were working with the OPP and the Ministry of Transport to find solutions to the issues.
