Documentary About Railways in Eastern Ontario to Have a Focus on Prescott

A North Grenville filmmaker is making a documentary about the historic railways in Prescott.

Councillor Fraser Laschinger brought up the film during council this week, saying he asked for a copy of the movie for the town. According to him there is a rich history of railways in Prescott.

The movie is called Forgotten Railways in Eastern Ontario and is being put together by D’von Wallace at Eleuthville Media. The idea for the project came about while Wallace was walking his dog and thinking about the history behind repurposing abandoned railway lines.

Councillor Laschinger says Prescott has an early connection with the Ottawa rail system.

According to Laschinger there are a number of interesting features that have disappeared over time that this documentary will highlight. The film is still in production and is expected to be released to the public this fall.
