Traffic on the St. Lawrence Seaway has been stopped for precautionary measures.
CTV is reporting a chemical tanker has run aground along the Seaway. An Iroqouis lock master says all ship activity has been stopped until the vessel is inspected and deemed safe.
That inspection was set to take place around 8:00am, after an inspector could make their way down from Montreal. The crew is expected to stay on board the 144 meter long CHEM NORMA until the hull has been gone over with sonar.
It is not know at this time what the tanker is carrying.
