The Special Olympic Torch Run and Walk is Right Around the Corner

The Prescott OPP detachment are reminding the public its Special Olympics fundraiser is right around the corner.

June 7th Grenville County OPP officers, members of Canadian Border Security, Special Olympic athletes from the area and South Grenville District High School students will be raising money through the annual Torch Run and Walk. The charity was originally selected by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and OPP Constable Suzanne Runciman says runners will be coming up to people along the route.

Participants start at 12:30 out the back of Walker House and make their way down Edward Street and King Street. Runciman says there is another fundraiser in the days that follow.

That’s happening on June 9th and Runciman says riders are making donations toward Special Olympics to be a part of the ride. She finished by encouraging anyone that sees them out for the run to throw a little change their way.
