Science Quest Holding a Series of Week Long Satellite Camps in the Area

A group from Queen’s University are putting on science camps for kids in the area.

Science Quest are a not for profit science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) based summer camp run through the engineering society at Queen’s. Marketing Manager with Science Quest Leah Vignale says they have three weeks of satellite camps coming up that kids in Prescott can take advantage of.

There will be a week of science camp in Kemptville from August 13th to 17th and then two weeks of camp in Brockville. From July 30th to August 3rd Science Quest will put on another science camp, then a robotics camp from August 20th to 24th. Vignale says they’ll cover a range of topics.

The design project is meant to introduce the kids to open ended thinking and the engineering design cycle. According to Vignale students work first hand with the robots.

She adds that this is the camp’s 30th year, after being founded by two female engineers in 1988. Camps run from 9 until 4 daily and children entering grades 4 to 8 this fall are welcomed to register. Registration information for all of Science Quest’s camps, including an overnight one on Queen’s Campus, can be found here.
