NDP candidate Michelle Taylor wants to reduce Hydro costs, keep rural schools open

Athens native Michelle Taylor is vying to represent Leeds-Grenville in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. Taylor says the biggest issues facing residents currently are Hydro costs and rural school closures.

Taylor says putting Hydro back into the public’s hands could cut costs 30 per cent for homeowners and businesses. Putting a moratorium on school closures in also high up on Taylor’s list of priorities. She attended an agricultural debate in Toledo a few weeks back. She says the NDP platform is in line with what local farmers are looking for.

The provincial election is June 7 and the MyPrescottNow newsroom will be talking to all the Leeds-Grenville provincial candidates this week to help you make an informed decision on voting day. Libertarian candidate Bill Buckley declined to be interviewed. To find out if you’re registered to vote, visit elections.on.ca.

An all-candidates meeting will be held at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on May 31 at 7:00pm.
