Connect Youth Inc. is Raising Awareness About Teenage Homelessness

A local youth group will be in Prescott raising awareness about homelessness amongst the region’s teens.

Victoria Robertson, Youth Transitional Apartment Case Manager with Connect Youth Inc., says they will be hanging ribbons on Wednesday afternoon so the community can see how many people between the age of 16 and 21 don’t have a place to call home. She says they’ll be hanging one ribbon for every referral they receive; adding this kind of homelessness isn’t always obviously visible.

Last year they had 92 referrals according to Robertson. She says they’ll be leaving the ribbons up so increase the initiative’s visibility.

The ceremony will be held at South Grenville District High School at 2:30pm and the public is encouraged to attend. Robertson finished by saying they’re more than willing to accept donations during this event but their primary focus on Wednesday is raising awareness.
