A freezing rain warning is in effect for the Prescott area.

Environment Canada says it expects the freezing rain to begin this afternoon or evening.

It says a storm will bring snow and ice pellets through the morning, but that will change to freezing rain later in the day. It’s also expected to continue into early Monday.

Environment Canada says ice accumulations, combined with the wind, could result in power outages due to fallen tree limbs and power lines.

The organization also reminds people that highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.
