Brockville man charged with contraband and illegal firearms

A 54-year-old Brockville man is heading to court for possession and trafficking in contraband cigarettes. An investigation that began several months ago led Brockville Police to a residence in the centre of the city.

Officers seized a large quantity of unstamped, contraband cigarettes. The street value ranges from $10,000 to $12,000. The accused was charged under the Tobacco Tax Act and released with a future court date.

Police also seized eleven long guns in the search. The accused did not have proper permits or registrations. He was also charged with illegal possession of firearms and issued a second court date.
