The Board of Trustees for the Upper Canada District School Board now has a timeline for budget deliberations.
During a presentation last week school board Superintendent of Business Robert Backstrom laid out a plan for when the various financial reports would need to be submitted to the board if they want the budget approved by June 6th.
Backstrom’s report also had preliminary projects for revenue and an outline of the financial opportunities and challenges the school board could face over the coming year. There is expected to be a decline in operating revenue from last year of just over $1 million. According to Backstrom this decrease is a result of the professional development funding.
As the 2018-2019 budget debate moves forward the Business Department will be bringing more updates forward. According to the school board this will include updates made the Grants for Student Needs, the primary source for school board funding. These numbers are expected to be available by the end of March.
