Cargo ships rush to deliver before Seaway closes at end of year

There are more ships in the Great Lakes-Seaway system than usual this season in a push to export grain and construction supplies before the route closes December 30^th.

President and CEO of The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation Terence Bowles says the 2015 shipping season has mirrored North American and global economic trends. A rise in global trading and construction activity along with a strong automotive sector has domestic and cross-border transport of cement, stone, gypsum, aluminum and machinery continuing, full speed ahead.
