The fleet that will be touring the Rideau Canal has formally arrived in Smiths Falls.
Earlier this month Le Boat hosted an unveiling at their boat yard in Smiths Falls. Le Boat’s Global Managing Director Cheryl Brown says the expansion has been in the works for around three years. The boats were designed for Canadian waterways but built in Poland and spent their first voyage as cargo.
According to Le Boat the self-piloted crafts will give visitors a new way to see the Rideau Canal, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The company is investing $16 million dollars into their Rideau Canal expansion and moved their North American headquarters to Smiths Falls last fall.
