Air Liquide Facility Opens in Johnstown

The St. Lawrence Corridor is welcoming another new multi-million dollar facility.

Air Liquide Canada has officially opened the doors on their carbon dioxide recovery plant in Johnstown. Last week over 60 people attended the ceremony and toured the one-of-a-kind plant. Air Liquide’s new facility is the only one in Canada with a Health Canada drug establishment license that allows them to test, package, create and label medical grade carbon dioxide.

Company President Bertrand Masselot says the facility is 170,000 square feet and allows them to capture raw carbon dioxide from GreenField and transform it into a liquefied gas. The plant has been under construction for two years and enhances the company’s bulk distribution in both Ontario and Quebec.

Ross Fuller, Vice-President of Process Industries, calls the recovery facility a resounding success. During the opening Fuller and Masselot commended the 30 employees and drivers currently employed at the site.
